This candleholder was first made by Porzellan Manufaktur Frankenthal (1755-1800).
Prince-Elector of Bavaria Max IV Joseph ordered the closing of the Frankenthal Porcelain Factory in 1800. After that, it was decided that a small portion of models would be carried within Nymphenburg's production. There is a well-known molding of this candleholder which is monogrammed with electoral princess Elisabeth Auguste (wife of Carl Theodor) from the 18th century.
