Selected to accompany the exhibition Making Home: Smithsonian Design Triennial, on view at Cooper Hewitt from November 2, 2024 to August 10 2025.

Johanna Howard Home's lightweight, sumptuous throw combines luxuriously soft 100% baby alpaca with striking ombré color. Each throw is specially woven and then hand-dyed by artisans in small pots over an open fire. Every limited run has its own character, providing natural variations in color and intensity and making them a delightful work of art for your home.

Now a New Jersey-based, family business, the story of Johanna Howard Home began in Sweden: a childhood spent in Johanna’s mother’s atelier. Born from their belief that textiles should be designed for humans, not homes, JHH maintains that designing for people means being good to people. JHH designs capture moods and memories; crave to be touched; and are ethically and sustainably made to last.

Johanna Howard is featured in the installation The Underground Library by Black Artists + Designers Guild, on view in Making Home: Smithsonian Design Triennial
