This hand-loomed pillow pattern gets its name from jazz pianist Oscar Peterson. The reverberating graphic front is woven in pure alpaca, and the back is grooving in velvet.

Johanna Howard's Oscar Pillow is on view in the installation The Underground Library by Black Artists + Designers Guild, part of Making Home: Smithsonian Design Triennial

Now a New Jersey-based, family business, the story of Johanna Howard Home began in Sweden: a childhood spent in Johanna’s mother’s atelier. Born from their belief that textiles should be designed for humans, not homes, JHH maintains that designing for people means being good to people. JHH designs capture moods and memories; crave to be touched; and are ethically and sustainably made to last.
