Greta von Nessen, born in Sweden and trained in Stockholm, immigrated to the United States in the 1920s and later continued the work of Nessen Studios after the death of her husband, Walter von Nessen. The Anywhere Lamp remains her best-known design and was honored in the U.S. Postal Service's Pioneers of American Industrial Design stamp series, which celebrated designers who helped shape the look of modern American life.
