Since the mid-1980s, Alessi has reproduced, under license from the Bauhaus-Archiv in Berlin, a selection of projects created by some of the school's main protagonists. To mark the centennial of the foundation of the Bauhaus, the 90042 4 piece Sugar and Cream Set, designed by Marianne Brandt and Helmut Schulze in 1928, is offered with special packaging.

Marianne Brandt was a German painter, sculptor, photographer, and designer who studied at the Bauhaus art school in Weimar and later became head, and the only woman to have worked in, the Bauhaus Metall-Werkstatt (Metal Workshop) in Dessau in 1927.

Helmut Schulze entered the Bauhaus Metall-Werkstatt in 1926, where he met Brandt and collaborated to create vases, lamps, and items in printed steel.
