The Peace All Around Bangle is made from Vietnam War-era bombs by rural artisans in a part of Laos heavily afflicted by the US bombardment during the Secret War, 1964-1973. Molded by human initiative and ingenuity, these bracelets not only represent an opportunity for artisan families to generate income but also tell a story about their makers and the legacies of our shared history. For nine years, the US dropped 2 million tons of ordnance, averaging one B-52 bombload every 8 minutes, making Laos the most heavily bombed country in the world.
Your purchase contributes to MAG (Mines Advisory Group) to safely & expertly clear unexploded bombs. Each piece also gives back to support traditional Laotian artisan livelihoods, village development, community endeavors, and further de-mining efforts.
