The Zip Pack is based on a balanced medium sized backpack that has just the right amount of space for your everyday essentials. The shape shifting and water resistant main body can lean towards a tote bag or take on the look of a more square backpack. Small and medium sized inside pockets, plus a Merino felt-lined sleeve which fits up to 15“ MacBook Pro® help to organize content. The special YKK® metal zippers with cotton- instead of the usual plastic tape allow direct top- as well as side-access to the main compartment, while keeping frequently used items accessible. The modular handle and adjustable backpack straps provide versatile carrying options.

In their quest for sustainable fabric solutions, Danish brand QWSTION decided to develop something new. Over three years and many iterations, they perfected Bananatex®, a waterproof fabric made from 100% natural Banana fibres, as an open source project so other brands can use it. QWSTION searched, and found “Abacá,” a plant in the banana family. Not only is it sturdy and self-sufficient, it is cultivated within a natural ecosystem of sustainable mixed agriculture and forestry. The stalks are shredded, then turned into a tear resistant paper. In strips, the paper is twisted into yarn. Finally, the paper-yarn is woven into fabric. Highly efficient patterns yield beautiful accessories and little waste.

A good answer is the result of the right question. QWSTION questions the norm of how things are designed, made and distributed. The Zurich-based company thrives on finding original solutions that are sustainable. The Swiss modernist design heritage has influenced the QWSTION collection making continuous development and improvement their focus. QWSTION was founded in 2008 when Sebastian Kruit, industrial designers Christian Kaegi and Fabrice Aeberhard, graphic designer Matthias Graf, and Hannes Schoenegger founded QWSTION in Zurich.
