The Hip Pouch is a small bag for holding essentials with adjustable hip and shoulder carry options. Made with 100% banana fibres. Two inner compartments allow for the safe storage of small items. Its main compartment fastens with a YKK® metal zipper with cotton tape, and the Hip Pouch’s water-resistant finish is complemented by vegetable-tanned leather trims.

In their quest for sustainable fabric solutions, Danish brand QWSTION decided to develop something new. Over three years and many iterations, they perfected Bananatex®, a waterproof fabric made from 100% natural Banana fibres, as an open source project so other brands can use it. QWSTION searched, and found “Abacá,” a plant in the banana family. Not only is it sturdy and self-sufficient, it is cultivated within a natural ecosystem of sustainable mixed agriculture and forestry. The stalks are shredded, then turned into a tear resistant paper. In strips, the paper is twisted into yarn. Finally, the paper-yarn is woven into fabric. Highly efficient patterns yield beautiful accessories and little waste.

A good answer is the result of the right question. QWSTION questions the norm of how things are designed, made and distributed. The Zurich-based company thrives on finding original solutions that are sustainable. The Swiss modernist design heritage has influenced the QWSTION collection making continuous development and improvement their focus. QWSTION was founded in 2008 when Sebastian Kruit, industrial designers Christian Kaegi and Fabrice Aeberhard, graphic designer Matthias Graf, and Hannes Schoenegger founded QWSTION in Zurich.
