The 9091 by Richard Sapper (German, 1932–) was Alessi's first designer kettle. The brass whistle that sings mi and si notes creates a pleasant melody when the steam blows through the whistle. Sapper wanted to avoid the anxiety-inducing screeching sound produced by other kettles on the market. This kettle became Alessi's very first multi-sensory object for the kitchen.
