American design duo Charles and Ray Eames (1907-1978; 1912-1988) who combined efforts in architecture, furniture, and photography, laid the foundation for American mid-century modernism. They advocated for mass production as a way to introduce high-quality and low-cost goods to post-war America by believing that design could be an agent for positive social change.
