One of Carl Auböck’s most enduring creations, this elegant hand design has been produced as letter openers, paperweights, bookends, and more. Architect Walter Gropius kept one of the brass hand curios on his working desk. Handcrafted from solid brass in Vienna, this piece combines Auböck’s Bauhaus School training with traditional Werner metalcraft. Keep track of your keys with a legendary piece of Austrian Modernist design.

In 1926, after two years at the Bauhaus School, CARL AUBÖCKreturned to Austria to take over his father’s workshop. Over the next ten years Auböck developed the style that would make him famous and beloved of contemporaries such as Walter Gropius, Richard Neutra and Charles Eames. At the Triennale de Milano in 1954, he was award four gold medals for his work and today he is remembered as one of the masters of Austrian modernism. Auböck pieces are collected globally by tastemakers like Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Maharam, and Carl Auböck’s grandson, Carl Auböck IV, continues to run the Auböck Werkstätte today.
