Alexander Girard, notable for his extensive work in textiles during the mid-20th Century, was often inspired by the popular art of South America, Asia, and Eastern Europe. The Wooden Dolls were originally created by Girard in the early sixties for his Santa Fe home. Based on originals found in the Girard Estate held by the Vitra Design Museum, a whimsical and quirky collection has been reintroduced for the 21st Century.
