Cooper Hewitt The Dance Umbrella

  • Sale
  • Regular price $36.00

Cooper Hewitt collaborated with Pentagram's Eddie Opara and Michael Gericke and their teams to develop a new graphic identity for the museum. A new typeface was created and the logotype provides an intriguing relationship between the words "COOPER" and "HEWITT." The underside of the umbrella features The Dance by Angelo Testa (1918-1984). This evocative linear design, for a printed textile, presents an abstraction of motion in space, a concept that Testa would have been introduced to at the New Bauhaus School of Design by the avant-garde artist and designer, László Moholy-Nagy. The Dance is in Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection.

The umbrella features a metal frame, polyester fabric, and an auto open/close mechanism.
