Marimekko's Pieni Unikko tea towel features Maija Isola's iconic floral pattern made with 100% cotton.

Unikko (poppy) was born in 1964 after Armi Ratia, Marimekko's founder had announced that Marimekko would never print a flower pattern. Maija Isola refused to obey Armi's orders and - in protest - created an entire series of gorgeous floral prints. One of them was Unikko which has become a story of creativity, strength, courage, and faith in oneself. The Unikko pattern is in the Cooper Hewitt Permanent Collection

In the 1950s, when the predominant fashion was rather restricting, Marimekko started making liberating dresses in abstract patterns in vibrant colors for women who are bold in expressing their personality through their choice of attire. Marimekko designers had an ability to sense the pulse of the moment – their clothing design was a source of enchantment and provocation around the world. Marimekko is committed to sourcing its materials responsibly and sustainably.
