Ettore Sottsass (Italian, 1917–2007) was a prolific, post-war, Italian designer. His remarkable career produced a provocative body of work, including architecture, furniture, industrial design, glass ceramics, painting, photography and a wealth of writings. With this work he intellectually and aesthetically challenged the conventional wisdom of forms and proportions for over 65 years. With his colorful and humorous designs, he was a leading figure of the 1960s Anti-Design movement, which revolted against the doctrines of Modernism.
