The BOYM Mansion Garden Tote commemorates the final phase of Cooper Hewitt’s transformation: the renovation and reimagining of the Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden.

Take home a piece of the Cooper Hewitt with this twenty-first century graphic interpretation of the 19th century Carnegie Mansion designed by BOYM Partners. Featuring the Mansion as an emoticon, the building façade and garden has been rendered as a digital emoticon entirely out of keyboard symbols and punctuation marks.

"From the outset, the Museum asked us to focus the souvenir program on the image of the museum’s building, the historical Carnegie Mansion. Victorian architecture of the mansion has been a difficult fit with the language of contemporary design. To that end, we’ve rendered the building façade as a giant digital emoticon, entirely out of keyboard symbols and punctuation marks. This graphic treatment brings the language of the 19th century building straight into the twenty-first century, closer to sensibility of the young generation of museum visitors. The flexible graphic icon can assume many different mutations and updates, depending on the fonts used. The first collection consists of basic souvenir types: t-shirts, coffee mugs, notebooks." -Constantin Boym
